I've sorted out my earlier mess. I've now posted a new version of the 'Blank Screen' screensaver, which sets the screen brightness to zero on activation, and resets the screen brightness to the prior value on exit. To install it, get the file "BlankScreenSaverApplet.lua" from www.cjh.me.uk/joggler/applets and copy it into the /opt/jivelite/share/jive/applets/BlankScreenSaver folder. In addition, I've added '0%' as an option in the backlight settings, and I've also updated the applet so that the chosen backlight setting is written to the settings file as soon as it's selected, rather than when backing out of that page. This ensures that the Blank Screen screensaver always restores to the chosen setting.
