Well I ended up reinstalling PCP & LMS from scratch, and of course the net mount now works fine - go figure! One forgets how much customisation has been done though - both on LMS and PCP, plug-ins, VU meters etc. - it seems never ending! But it's working anyway now. :-)
I installed and updated LMS to the latest nightly - but it only sees up to Logitech Media Server Version: 7.9.2 - 1578996832 @ Tue Jan 14 12:21:10 CET 2020, when http://downloads-origin.slimdevices.com/nightly/?ver=7.9 say 7.9.3 is available.
