I have set up my iBook for web development with Apache, PHP and mysql. The Apache setup is easy (turn on web sharing). On my setup, PHP was almost as easy: An edit of the Apache configuration file. PHP already ships with OS X, you just need to configure Apache to turn it on.
There are a couple of mysql packages out there for direct install on to OS X. Just do a Google search to find them. I found mysql a bit harder to get setup, probably because I had never done it before. End result: I can write and debug all my web code on the iBook then upload the results to the server and it all works exactly the same way. All iMac computers are supported, so you don't even have to hassle with XpostFacto (and that was not a hassle on my 9500). The Apache web server with PHP takes very little CPU resources compared to the GUI, so response is pretty good. Since you will have several windows open during development and each window eats RAM, you will want a pretty fare amount of memory. I have 256 Meg in the iBook and it is adequate. Not great, but adequate.
