The network is fully functional if I'm using OS 8.6 or 9.1 on the 7300. It is when OS X is the boot disk that I cannot mount the 7300's volume on the other computers. Haven't tried your crossover suggestion yet but tend to think it is not a hardware problem. > ...Another thing to look > at are the permissions on the shares that are being > used from the OS X side. Good suggestion as I had failed to do this. However, the permission panel on the boot disk is grayed out. I have set to other two 7300 volumes to Everyone (Read & Write) I still get the message "The connection to his server has been unexpectedly broken." after I enter the owner name and password in Chooser. I tried to follow your other suggestions like setting a new location with Ethernet settings in OS X. I also changed my Remote Access configuration to use ARAP as the protocol in one of the other Macs. This prevented the modem starting up but still was unable to mount any 7300 volume. Of course I may not have done this properly. I returned to the original "Automatic" location in OS X and the PPP protocol for Remote Access on the other Mac. Thanks Terry and Seth for all the suggestions. I'll keep working on the problem. Sooner or later I'll figure out what I am doing wrong.
