Try this, it should not be necessary for OS 8.1-9.1 but it's worth a shot for diagnostic purposes and in case you every decide to use any pre-8.1 OSs (I have a lot of 68k Macs in my network :) ): 1. Open /Application/NetInfo Manager.app 2. In the column view at the top of the pages go to the path: /config/AppleFileServer 3. In the panel of grayed out values below the column view scroll down to 'use_appletalk' 4. Click the lock in the bottom left corner and punch in your Admin password 5. Change the value for use_appletalk to '1'. 6. Close NetInfo Manager and confirm all saves and updates. 7. Reboot. If this solves the problem try looking through the File Sharing preferences on the legacy machines to see if file sharing over TCP/IP is enabled and also, in the TCP/IP control panel try the folowing: 1. Goto Edit->User Mode (Cmd-U). 2. Select 'Advanced' 3. Extra options will appear in the panel, go to the Options button at the bottom right of the dialog. 4. Uncheck the 'Load only if needed' option. 5.
