You didn't say whether the router has a parallel port on it.
If it doesn't then USB to parallel should work. I didn't have that  
option, but it's a good one.
It's important to set up print center correctly.

Once you get that set up, you have more control if you go directly to  
CUPS via a browser:

  <http://127.0.0.1:631>

There you can configure the minute details such as default paper size,  
media, resolution etc...

I've heard that printer sharing needs to be enabled in the Sharing pane  
of the System preferences.
