> Sorry Liam, I appreciate your response to my problem. Welcome!
Right. What you've written is a little hard for me to follow. I think you should try going a little more slowly and taking it step by step, not in one big rush. Putting things in a numbered list often helps. So, AFAICT, the HPLJ6 is on an OS 9.1 machine, connected serially. That machine can print OK, but the OS X machine can't connect to the HP. You say you've tried connecting to the printer's IP address. Er, how? Where does a serial printer get an IP address from? Where did you find this IP address? > The HP LaserJet 6MP uses the following: 1. Localtalk Mac serial 2. IEEE ECP 1284C PC Enhanced Parallel port > 3. IEEE ECP 1284B (Parrallel) Standard bidirectional parallel port. Note, in case you're searching the web or something, that's one "r" in "parallel". > I loaded the GIMPprint/Ghostprint > software > "no success". <Tsk tsk> Never mind "no success" - that's not good enough! What version? How did you try to load it? Did it appear to install OK? Were you able to run it afterwards? > I have a feeling the USB to Parrallel cable is my best > bet > here. It's apparently one way to do it. Obviously you'll need USB ports on the OS X machine - you haven't told us if you have these or not. I don't think you can readily share a Localtalk printer on classic MacOS, so I don't know where the IP address you talk about comes into it. Localtalk doesn't use IP and no addresses are involved. > The Farralon PhoneNet Adapters I believe are useless to me at this > point and other adapters are to pricey. Well, since you still haven't specified what they are... :) OS X doesn't support LocalTalk, so any *directly attached device* using Localtalk won't work. -- Liam Proven http://welcome.to/liamsweb -- Unsupported OS X is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> Unsupported OS X list info <http://lowendmac.com/lists/unsupported.html> Send list messages to: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For digest mode, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subscription questions: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Archive <http://www.mail-archive.com/unsupportedosx%40mail.maclaunch.com/> Using a Mac?
