Hi studio..
Sorry for the late reply.. (have not had access to my mailserver for a
couple of days..=(..
Oki.. test it out when you get time..
well yep, some threads gets that way..
and I try to adjust my posts/replies, to the person(s) that initially post a
question..
So if its a person that I know, knows certain things, then I put it on a
certain level..
Still, when I do most of those Step by step guides or tuts.. then I try to
almost over do it, and even add some additional info so it should be easier
for all that wants to follow...
I also try to not only do the steps, but also add some comments Why...so the
one that tests the Steps or Tuts, can get an understanding why this and that
should be done..and what its good for.. (other tuts or similar I have seen
over the years.. just have tons of steps to follow.. but never say why, so
the testers needs to read between the lines.. and/or have to get more info
elsewhere...)
I also try to encourage ppl to ask if something is unclear or if something
more is needed..
and this, really then should be inviting for those that thinks its hard to
follow, and/or just wants some more info or prj files or whatever..!
Since, its really impossible for everyone that posts things on the list, to
try to imagine what everyone on the list might think is needed, for every
post...
So we all need to be more active, if we want to get into the threads..and
say what we need out of it..!
Also, as I have mentioned before, maybe not all posts are for everyone.. at
all times..(I have a lot of Threads that I really dont ever follow.., some
cause I am not intrested, and some that is just over my head, some of them I
keep for later..)
Ok.. hope you can have some use of the guide and the prj(s)..!
Good luck, and ask more if needed. !
Now its time to follow the last 42 min until, hopefully first Scandinavian
(a Swede) will get into space.. ! =)
Up to the international spacestation..
A milestone for us..=) hopefully it will all go well..! =)
Take Care

Hi Stef :
studio did you at all read the step by step explanation I wrote in the
post?
(that step by step, was the steps for that specific prj..!)
No , I confess I did not yet . I certainly do plan on setting
aside some time to go over all the stuff that you and Matthias
have posted , projects especially . Thanks again .
Having said that , however , I have to go back to one of
my original posts and points and mention that it is
basically impossible for newbies to follow along with this
important thread , without spending a lot of time on it .
I see that you have included a great tute below so that
will most assuredly get done in the next week ... I hope
(just very very busy right now) .
This is an excellent thread but again , the basics seem
to be assumed , when they are not understood by all who
are reading and trying to learn (I would guess anyway) .
Thanks
studio
and you dont actually never have to use the Chor Win, until you want to
fineadjust an anim or part of it, or if you want to do some more advanced
stuff.. !
You mention the old V3 Morphing tool.. well you have it in V5 as well, and
yep it is now integrated with the Chor Win.. but you dont have to do
things
in Chor Win...
btw.. you can use the Morphing Tool, on the object directly, but then you
have to have multiple copies of that object...and if its a massively
heavey
object, then yep, it can get really and hard to deal with... as you add
more
and more of them..
You can then instead do a mix of it, Either bind your main object to a
Skeleton, or a Carriage, or to a Carriage that is Bound to a Skel, or
whatever combination you need or want, or what the animation demands..and
then make duplicates of the Skeleton/Carriage or whatever and use the
MorphLevel Tool on them !!!
I have here added a very simple prj... that uses a Cylinder that is Bound
to
a Carriage, and then this Carriage has been duplicated several times, and
those carriages has been used in a Morphing Tool Level Object..
It is setup like this...
1. Create the Cylinder (and as usual, dropped it into a new level (d Key))
2. With that CylinderLevel selected, startt the Carriage Tool and 1st
click
in middle of the Cylinder, 2nd to the right of it..
3. With the Carriage selected, I duplicated it several times (Ctrl + d
Keys)
4. Multiselect the Carriages and then in menu 'Tools/Creation/Morph', and
then Accept the tool...
5. Then I in the 'Select' Window opened the Morph Level and selected each
in
turn, of the middle "Keys" Carriages (that is the 2nd through to the 2nd
last one), and moved/rotated these in the 'View' Window
(I didnt touch the 1st and the last, to get a continueous closed anim...)
You can handle the Morphing Level, in the 'Properties' Window´s 'Spec' Tab
if you want, for changing timing, move keyframes in time, and so on, or you
can do some of it in the 'Chor' Win....
This combo, Carriages and Morph Tool, actually is easy, since you dont
have
to set each Carriage´s ON/OFF in correct times, it all just works..!
When not using the Morph Tool, then you have to do it the way I described
it
in the other post (and as Matthias also first posted with prjs), using a
Keyframer in which each Carriage´s weight would have its anim info...!)
This prj Should be pretty straightforward...I hope..
Still, there are some deep pitfalls, with the Carriage, in some
situations..that might be hard to see, or come to grips with, especially
when it gets offset, which it does when several Carriages that is ON, and
moved at the same time, they all influence the Target object... and it can
be hard to deal with..
But more on this as I find solutions for it..until then I wont bother with
these situations..=)
So, all tools have their own purpose (or what the one that developed it
thought..), but any tool can and will be used in many other ways..
Some ways are cool, some may be liked by some users, some wont...
Its up to each user, to use any tool, in any given project and what it
needs...and mixed them if needed too..=)
btw.. yep the Chor Win has some not wanted bugs..but I dont think it has
more of it than RS in general..and they hopefully will be fix (the most
bad
ones, so just keep on reporting them...and we will test them out as well
as
we can and hopefully get it all better in the end..!)
Though bugs isnt what I think is the most urgent with the Chor Win.. but
it
really needs MultiSelection and Level Grouping.. ! but that will hopefully
will be adressed into V6 ! =)
btw2
The big advantage with Carriage and other things in general...
is that you dont have to deal or mess up the Original object which is
bound
to the Carriage or skeleton or other of these Tool Objects..!
You manipulate/animate THOSE to get your object to do what you want...and
you then still also have the original as it once was, just by Turing OFF
those others.. !
So they can be turned On/Off at your will..and in any combination, for
your
needs, or what this and that specific prj needs..
They can be turned On/Off in several ways, and either direct, or smoothly
over time.., again its up to you or what your prjs needs..!
The big advantage of the Carriage in specific...
Is that one that I already said in one of my posts about bending a Logo or
similar..
Where you dont want the Logo or its letters to Scale or Stretch but only
Translate and/or Rotate.
It makes linear transformations, moves and rotates the targets..but wont
change the parts or points of them...
Still as I have mentioned.. it has some odd things too, that at times can
be
frustrating.. but so have many other things..
If you have more questions just ask.. I´ll be here..
Take Care
