I asked a long time ago if we could 3D paint VSL shaders
onto our models in RS ... never got a reply but I'm assum-
ing the answer would be "yes, of course" .
Then again , never assume .

The tool can evaluate various shading components. It does so called
'baking' - procedural materials, complex illumination etc. can be
evaluated and stored as a texture map. Using a texture map instead
of a multi-layered procedural shader set can speed up rendering
significantly. Baking is also a useful feature for scene export
purposes.

Sounds awesome to me . The thing about using ZBrush is that you
obviously cannot 'spray' VSL onto your models . Appears to me
that you can use the 3D Painting Tool that RS provides for all
kinds of various elaborate and unique uses ... ... or not .
Has anyone actually explored this part of the awesome Chinese
Puzzle , or is it still available to non-creators to be slowly
broken down , bit by bit , on weekends and summer holidays ?
(If I wasn't so busy with actual work I'd be salivating right now)

and the "light" version is for less money available (299).
I've never tried it, but maybe somebody has time to do that?

Hi mark :
Seems that there are a couple of ZBrush look-alikes around
too , for less money , or maybe with special offers etc .
If it 90% seamless with RS it would be a real treat to
use .
