Thanks for the links they are very interesting, I am playing about with real time terrains myself at the moment so I do find these tools useful.

Hi Frank :

You're very welcome . Wilbur has some awesome tools , but
export options are very disappointing . I'm tempted to email
the developer and ask why after all these many years he still
doesn't offer 32 bit or .dem export .

While on the subject and as an aside there is a great little terrains gallery at the following link (it also contains some nudes so please be warned :) )

Ah yes , Vue ! Nice stuff and an interesting Blog (the odd Poser
nude seemed done in good taste) . Awesome clouds and great textures
and plant placements . Thanks for the link .

Realtime terrains , eh ? Sounds very interesting ! Using OGL or
some kind of fast rendering ? Could it be used with shutter glasses?

is an ancient (but still updated regularily) freeware
terrain generating and modifying S/W . Super easy to use
and is a great place to start with creating your own un-
ique landscapes for import into RS ,lot's of cool tools.

(no export - .DEM support)

KUDA created a cool example of what can be done with
JAVA and RS recently , and one can't help but wonder
what the possibilities might be for a terrain shading
script ?

Imagine being able to have RS render instances of trees
& plants at certain elevations and/or gradients (slopes)?

Or having the whole .DEM covered in various 'grass' in-
stances , except where the user decides VSL 'fractal rock'
should be showing (user defined slope amounts) ?

Water could be restricted to an exact elevation level
(sea-level) or maybe even applied to areas of a .DEM
that have been designed in Wilbur to "catch & contain"
rainfall .

Various noises applied to water surface to represent
waves (large or small) . Clouds hover at various elev .

Certain slopes above certain elevations could have
instances of certain plants mixed at certain amounts ...

Seems the scripting abilities of RS may be the quick-
est way to create basic but effective plugins ?
