True. We have decided knowingly that RedHat was to be our reference
platform. Not because it is 'the better distribution' in any way, but we
had to find a way to break our no-stable-release-since-ages curse. The
guys from openssh use this approach successfully, a core team focusses on
OpenBSD (it think) only, and a ports team sweeps behind them to solve
porting problems. As a result every platform other than the ref platform
is consistently lagging behind. Due to the fact that our group of active
contributers is still rather small, the members of the ports team are the
the members of the core team, defeating the principle of the strategy. We
may have to rethink this.
