OK, that wasn't it then. As I said, I have a system that's doing the
same here, segfaulting at startup. I've been able to get it in the
debugger reliably, but the place it actually segfaults
(ap_root_relative) makes no sense.

However, for the truly weird bit: it looks like this is not unique to
midgard-php4. I moved the mysql extension out of the php4 tree,
compiled php4 without mysql, then compiled their mysql extension as an
loadable module, load, start => boom.

Other modules don't exhibit the problem.

What platform are you running this on? The systems that's been giving
me trouble is a RH60 box, with pretty ancient everything.
