I just tried it again and it worked fine. I already had the top bar and
then I installed the frippery bottom bar and it worked too.

Because you're getting those from that other repo as well.

That "frippery" thing is not part of Fedora. It's an external repo you
added. But there are the frippery extensions in Fedora.
Where did that nonsense about Gnome not being supported by Fedora come
from? Someone mentioned it on Facebook too. It's the primary desktop!

Disable that external repo before doing the update.
