I already did so, because it was the only option to have the update to
fedora44. But the PC never started in graphic mode using startx. It was
the reason for my first message.
Is the installed gnome-shell the one from the Fedora repo now?
I don't know what's wrong with your setup. I tried the live boot and
starting gnome-shell from the console worked normally. The only things
that don't work are logout and screen saver because those are handled by
gdm. "systemctl start gdm" should get you a normal login screen.
