Booting from the live image load wayland and gdm. 
Seems his system isn't loading a DM by default and was sometimes 
using startx to load the DM. Note sure if it was setup with gdm or 
lightdm. I use lightdm and XFCE installed after original setup many 
versions ago.

# dnf5 provides startx

Don't know if he has either of those installed on his system after 
upgrade?? Perhaps adding would add the startx. It exist on my 
machines.
