Was the file you downloaded OOo_3.0.0beta2_20080707_LinuxX86-64_install_en-US_deb.tar.gz If you'd like to run the latest development m4 9347 build then download OOo-Dev_OOO300_m4_LinuxX86-64_install_en-US_deb.tar.gz from here: ftp://ftp.rz.tu-bs.de/pub/mirror/OpenOffice.org/extended/developer/OOO300_m4 I'd recommend this one vs the beta as you can experiment with the lastest fixes.
