Hi,

the computer that will be having Linux on it will have 1Gig memory, to
start (expandable to 9Gig), 2.4Gig dual core CPU. I have a few different Linux
CDs (one being PCLinux). I suppose I should change my Linux queries to a Linux
forum. I'm just so impressed with OOo, I thought this would be a great place
to start. However, I see I have more to learn about installing Linux and about
Linux in general.

Assuming you are new to Linux and have a reasonable computer (with at
least 512 MB RAM), then I would suggest one of the easier versions of
Linux that runs as a live CD. This means that you can boot and run it
directly from the CD without needing to install it. You can install it
to your hard drive if it is working well.

A few that would be worth you trying are:

PCLinuxOS (http://www.pclinuxos.com/)
Ubuntu (http://www.ubuntu.com/)
Linux Mint )http://linuxmint.com/)

All of these come with OpenOffice.org preinstalled. (And all can open
MS 2007 files if that's important to you.) You can explore other
distros at DistroWatch (www.distrowatch.com).

Instructions for burning ISO files are here if you need it (there are
other ways as well):
http://www.petri.co.il/how_to_write_iso_files_to_cd.htm

If your computer is a bit old, and has much less than 512 MB of RAM,
let us know, and I'll suggest some other distros.

I hope this helps.
