Valid reasons have been provided here to justify preceding one's
response with the citation to which one is responding and therefore,
the rhetorical question you asked above is both unjustified and
irrelevant to the purpose of this list, IMHO.
I meant that as a joke and EXPLICITLY (shouting intended) said so.
Lighten up. You'll enjoy life more. : )
While in this particular thread, some (not all by any means) of the "top
posting is always wrong" crowd have resorted to personal attacks, there
are always some people who will do that on all sides of every issue.
It's not acceptable in any case.
Perhaps no one complained about it because everyone was just tired of
the whole discussion. I hope that's the reason.
Generally threads will die out when everyone has had his say. Personal
abuse tends to prolong threads, so there's a practical reason to
discourage it when someone on your own side of an issue stoops to it.

communication on the list and decreases the effectiveness of the
list.
Agreed. That said, this topic has already been discussed depth here
and IMO, the rest of us on this list deserves a break from an interchange
that from here on in, would best be carried out via private mail.
