Scott, I had a similar situation with a dirtbike. It turned out that at the
bottom of the gas tank was a screen. There were a couple of metal chips
stuck in the screen which would limit fuel flow. Of course you wouldn't
feel anything wrong until the engine spins up to a point that the fuel
system couldn't contribute enough fuel for the engine's requirements. The
rest of the rpm range (idle & midrange) it ran perfect.
