Thanks for all suggestions everyone. Today I fitted a K&N filter element and shimmed 
the
stock needles .020" just to keep it safe. I'm at sea level most of the time, up to a
maximum of  500ft. above around our city. The weather at this time of the year (our
fall) is cooler and crisp with high barometric pressures so a little fatter on the fuel
will be in order. The plugs look O.K and the engine runs fine everywhere. The only seat
of the pants feeling I got with the air filter was a slightly stronger rush of V-boost
as it cam on. Is this in my head? Or can that element actually provide some noticeable
improvement? I'll let you know if the dyno shows what I thought I felt.
