I had gotten into bed and Duh, thought of one other thing.  Is it possible
the caliper seals have been contaminated with a mineral oil product, ATF,
solvent, WD-40 anything petroleum based?  The reason I ask is the brake
seals are either EPDM or SBR both of which are incompatible with petroleum
oils.  They swell up and could cause the symptom you described.  I have seen
this in vehicles and it is not pretty.  Typically parts swell to 150 to 170
% of there normal size.
