This post disturbs me a bit. I am a fair mechanic. I
bought my Max at the end of August this year. I
ordered it and it is a 2001. I have put 2000 miles on
her. I am in Ohio and I am insured till Dec 1st. About
two weeks ago I put her away but hoped for another day
of riding before 12-1-00.
I went out to start her on Thanksgiving and the
battery was noticeable low. The thing that scared me
was the starter. I only got maybe three revolutions on
it before the solenoid disengaged and the starter
spinned out without turning the engine. In the first
place I am very disapointed in the battery's ability
to maintain a charge but worse than that I have never
cranked the starter more than maybe 5 revolutions on a
full charge. It has not been abused. Should I take
the bike back to the dealer? Or is this typical? I
hope not because without a kick starter I would hate
to push this 600 lb monster.
