Max does not have a starter solenoid. If the starter spun free then your
one way clutch was not working correctly. A low battery should not have
anything to do with it. When I had mine apart, any turning of the big
clutch gear made the clutch grab. Did not have to turn at a certain speed
first. You can check it by just removing the cover and trying to turn the
large gear behind the flywheel. You should be able to turn it one way but
not the other.
