You are mistaken on this Don. The question/change was posed by the
President of VAC, not President of WBCCI. He asked folks to email him
with their thoughts. After mostly negative reponses the concept was
dropped.

I agree with RL --
We sometimes just go sit in Bambi and look out the windows at the pine trees in our
pasture... If we can't be on the road, at least we can sit in Bambi and pretend...
Sounds odd, maybe. But we like it. We don't have a shiny trailer -- maybe one of
these days. But this group welcomes those of us that don't have the time (yet) to
shine the trailers.
We just repaired an exploded water tank with a new tank from Alrite in California.
The old, original one exploded from us hooking up to water at a campsite that had
water pressure in excess of 100 lbs. -- we didn't know any better (we now own a $10
pressAs has been mentioned previously, one repair leads to another, but those are just
things that will last for years to come and add to the enjoyment of the trailer.
Just relating this because it's part of the process -- we love these old "toasters"
and take it all in stride.
Enjoy!>

Hi again VACers,
Here's another frustration, My wife and I are pretty much in the
"full-time, live in, can't go anywhere with our Airstream" situation,
and only dream of going to those really cool rally's and get together's
that I hear so often about. I've often thought, " if people new we were

Greetings Eric!
Welcome to the world of Vintage Airstreaming and the pleasures of
traveling in a '64 Tradewind. There are several owners of '64 models on
the list so you'll find quite a bit of company.
I mention this just as an alternative that you may not have considered.
Since the '64 has a flat front window whose glass can rather easily be
replaced, a rock guard isn't an absolute necessity. My '64 Overlander
has never had one and has only suffered two cracked windows, and the
last was replaced with Lexan which has held up extremely well over the
past 7 years. The great advantage to not having a rock guard is that
you can see straight through the trailer using the center rear view
mirror in your tow vehicle assuming that the tow vehicle is tall enough
- - I have become so accustomed to this feature that I dread giving it
up when I tow the Argosy that nearly requires a rock guard due to its
curved wing windows. It is really nice to know when a small car is
tailgating the trailer, and it is also quite a help when backing solo (I
am a Free Wheeler as well as VAC).
I keep hoping that someone will reproduce the "hammock bunks" as my
coach has all of the original attaching hardware - - and I can remember
sleeping in one as a child of 5 years when the trailer was new and owned
by friends of my family. By the time the trailer reached me it had
become separated from its original hammock bunks.
Good luck in your restoration project!

Thanks for sharing the photos. That's a fine job and something to be
proud of. You also have a nice mooring set up.
We should have ours ready for the road by next Spring. It should be
ready now, but Barbara can't make her mind up when it comes to the
interior color scheme. And THAT holds most everything else up.
It would be nice to meet you nice folks some day.

Hi all,
While the kitchen are is undergoing renewal, it seems like a good time to
ask for some advice about water filters.
If possible, I'm looking for a filter that will make water
potable...drinkable.
Also, I want it to be an inside, secure location that filters all incoming
water. Is this possible or just a pipe dream?

PEX as I understand is the RV and Mobile standard today. I replumbed my
entire 76 Sovereign with PEX and flair it fitting 2 years ago and it works
great. The fittings and PEX tubing are easy to work with and very adaptable
to all types of turns and tight places

Hi Cindy,
We wanted the same type of filtration, to filter all of the water coming
into the trailer. We looked at several options including putting a filter
just inside the city water connection under the streetside bed. This
wouldn't filter anything if we were boondocking however. We ended up using
an in-line filter that attaches to the fresh water hose. I use it when
filling the fresh water tank and when we hook up to city water in places
that have hook-ups. This works really well and I like the versatility of the
in-line hose filter.

Our '64 Overlander has fold-down bunks over the center twins. They were
installed by the factory, and are not removable like the aluminum bunks.
You can glimpse them in a '59 Overlander at www.vintageairstream.com. Very
satisfactory, though the hardware depended more on optimism than on
engineering (since beefed up). If the overhead cabinets are in place, I
doubt if they would work. Also makes for a darkish midsection. Contact me
if you want more information.
If Andy has the hardware, though, I think I'd buy that, borrow grandpa's
bunks, and keep an eye out for bunks which will surely come your way if you
have lived a clean life.

Greetings All!
I was checking on the progress of some refurbishing that Ace Fogdall RV

very nice 1973 Airstream 25' trailer available for sale. It appears to
be an exceptionally nice rig, and I notice that they now have it listed

Greetings Tom!
I am something of a Klutz when it comes to building anything whether out
of wood or metal. It would take metalworking skills far beyond what I
possess as well as an assortment of tools beyond those in my tool box.
The canvas portions would be relatively easy to have made, but the
aluminum frame and hanging strap/cable would be the most difficult part
of the project.

Kevin,
Why not build these bunks yourself?
