OK - done that, and now no more VT-x errors...
However, it is too unstable to use.
What happens is that after the WinXP black 'booting' window opens
(multi-coloured flag), then the blue screen after which the user desktop
usually appears, instead the black booting screen re-appears, and that
sequence just keeps repeating, so it never gets to the user desktop.
Oddly enough, the first time, after doing an Adjust Window Size, the
WinXP desktop did come up and was usable, but after closing it down
another instance of the booting window appeared, etc.
(The Window size adjustment does not adequately adjust the window
size, so much of the actual window is off the screen.)
In case anyone can see any clue as to what is happening with this, a
copy of the VBox.log can be seen here:

Perhaps some difference between the two versions of V'Box is causing
this misbehaviour.
I have V'Box 4.1.14 (r77440) installed on Mandriva 2010.2 on desktop,
and V'Box 4.1.18_OSE (r78361) installed on Mageia-2 on a netbook, so
the Export Appliance is from the Mandriva V'Box 4.1.14 imported into the
Mageia 4.1.18.
