Wayne, I just Googled up a bunch of Tups Indispensables, and most of them were smooth, with one a little bit fuzzy. One looked like twisted silk with tiny segments looking like a quill body.
The photo I sent has 2 flies that approach the 'touch-dub' application. If you can post a photo of what you want to see, I will try it with a few different dubbings, lke yellow ice-dub, to see what you think of rope-dub touch-dub. The only thing I haven't used it for is a real loose dubbing application on a Tups Indispensible soft hackle fly. I know you can use it for this but my attempts didn't turn out as well as touch dubbing with a sticky dubbing wax I made. I have only got to play with it for very short periods of time and have not used it at shows because I don't feel I am proficient at it though by this time I should be.. We all have a "D" key, if it is no interest then go down the list, click on the messages and hit the "D" key. The messages are making me itch to get to it but I have other commitments to take care of first. Some one will start a conversation/thread on the list then carry on on-list forever. I never intended for this to take so much time. A lot of people on the list will be surprised to see all this traffic when they open up their e-mails later today..... LJ >>> "Wayne Blake-Hedges" <[email protected]> 11/4/2010 11:07 AM >>> Hi All; I'm thoroughly enjoying this thread, lots of information to glean. DonO: How do you start your rope dubbing without creating much of a bump? I'm presently tying a soft hackle GRHE for a swap and rope dubbing the hares ear but struggling to consistently avoid creating a bump at the start. When I get it right, it sure looks good. it's almost a shame to follow up with the gold rib but, that's a requirement of the swap. DonO, Larry, and Joyce: Any possibilty that you all will be attending any future Sow Bug Roundups? Would love to watch you guys & gals at the tying bench. Keep this thread going, it's really intersting! Wayneb -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the "VFB Mail" group.
