If you hook em in the mouth it aint snagging/foul hooking...

BTW in NZ you must return all foul hooked fish to the water whether they are 
alive or not !!

When fishing a sunken fly, the fly line /a tandem dry / an indicator all 
serve the same purposes - any difference in whether it is approriate or not 
is in the fisherman's mind.  For some folk if it makes it easier it aint fly 
fishing ....  running and ducking again
