I don't own any high dollar fly rods (got a Penn international set that cost $1500) , mine are all Wally world specials. Two are South Bend (8 &5 WT) and one is a Silver Stream (5 WT) . I have caught fish with all three. My vise was a gift (got a Renzetti for Christmas). I have often wondered about the advantages of a high dollar rod. All in all I say if it isn't broke, don't fix it. Sure, one day I'll get me an Orvis or a Sage, but until then I'll be content with what I got, the fish don't seem to mind. For those of you that do own a high end rod, what are the advantages compared to my $29.95 South Bend set?
