At my local rod building shot (Greg's Custom Rods, www.gregscustomrods.com) he
is against using rods with more than 2 pieces unless travelling is the big
part of the rod. He considers them more fragile, especially where the upper
section is flared. He tells me that he has seen many multipiece rods split
there.

Personally, I still prefer to fish 2 piece rods, as I don't care to mess
around with all the little pieces. And yes, I have buddies that swear by
multipiece rods, go ahead, call me an old fogey.
