My 4 pc. 5 wt sage worls as good if not better as my 2 pc 7 wt sage. I know however that a 7 or 8 wt multi-piece rod might not work as good because each joint is a weak spot where a break might appear (unless the joint is of a spigot ferrule)........just my opinion though.

I've got multi-piece rods that I think perform as good as any two piece --
and I've got a couple two piece rods that perform better than multi-piece
rods.

I don't think such a blanket statement as made in the article you read is
applicable to all rods.

However, I love the convenience of owning multi-piece rods.
