All of my rods are multi piece rods.   I would prefer the two piece myself
if given a choice.   I have to be able to fit them in the truck without the
little guys in the back testing the weight of the rod.   :0)
I wrote earlier that my buddy broke his rod while we were out.  It was a
Powell Tiburon 9 wt and it did split at one of the connecting spots towards
the end of the rod.   My husband has the same rod and I don't think I will
be too quick to borrow it.
I was forgiven for the reel and it was fixed the next day.   Of course it
probably isn't wise to hold a grudge against the fly tyer in the family  <g>
and he is a very wise man.
