Wow, I may go out on a limb here and take a view contrary to a master... I believe, and I think I can back with evidence in my own experience, that CA glues (Zap-a-Gap), will cause feathers and natural hairs to become brittle. My experience does not extend to synthetics. This said, and I maintain, CA glues have no business on the head or any other place on a salmon fly.
Simply put, it is not needed. Anchor wings with edge to edge wraps and sparse amounts of hair, techniques that will be neccessary when building multi-color layered wings anyway.

I was watching a Dick Talleur video tying Atlantic Salmon Flies last nght. He used zap-a-gap quite extensively on the head to anchor the Hair Wings. I believe he was using Squirrel Tail. Is your comment related to feather stems or Salmon Fly heads, in general?
