I agree...I only use superglue on two kinds of flies, firstly "superglue buzzers".  secondly helping lock the gold bead heads in place before tying the rest of the fly.

I've got your back, Brian! :-) CA glues absolutely cause natural hairs and feathers to become brittle. Or try this, put your prime crests in a sealed container with an open bottle of Zap-a-Gap. The result is not pretty!
Proper techniques - sparse amounts of hair, thread control, etc. - will do the job much better than slopping on ZAG. I detest the use of it on classic streamers and salmon flies. It's just plain not right. ;-)
