Hi Guilhem, > As you can see, I have difficulties to spend time on viking.
First of all thanks for all your work on viking, I use it a lot! I think to get more coders to work on viking it's very important to get the documentation, in this case the wiki cleaned up. Please make sure that edits are allowed in the new wiki and lets remove the old wiki as soon as possible. Viking claims to be an "GPS data editor" but it's more a Viewer, what i really miss is: * allow moving/draging points of gpx tracks around * allow adding of trackpoints in exsiting tracks like in josm: you can drag the middle of a section between two nodes/gpspoints to simply create a new node/point * simple dialog to allow different colors for different tracks (who needs background colors for a track ?) nice to have would be: * smooth zooming like on maps.google.com with the javascript api. (not sure if that is possible in viking) * rocket view like on map24.com I would love to help but unfortunately I am not able to code c and the below sounds complicated to me, can somebody probably create a documentation on the wiki to show by example how this works ? > The most long job is to collect patches, create commits (with correct > author) and merge them. I suggest that anybody interested in joining > this effort to: > - open a public repo on GitHub (or anywhere else hosting Git), > - walk on the mailing-list and issue tracker to collect patches or bugs, > - create as many topic branches as issue, > - send pull requests when branches are ready (patch applied, tested > and ChangeLog modified). > - finally, remove the merged topic branches.
