I think the issue is that I haven't pulled in any of the other git 
repositories for viking. I'm just using the sourceforge master at the 
moment.

I checked the sourceforge repository at 
http://viking.git.sourceforge.net/git/gitweb.cgi?p=viking and it shows 
the following commits ( I have the last one listed):
