If it's factory paint, or acrylic enamel with hardener, most penetrating 
oils won't harm the paint. If it's lacquer, it will be easier to 
dissolve with some solvents. WD-40, Gibb's and Liquid Wrench have never 
hurt the paint on anything I was working on, so far. Never used 
Tri-Flow. You could test a non-obvious spot first...

I would not let spilled oil or solvents sit on the paint any longer than 
you can help, just on general principles. It probably would be a good 
idea to re-wax the area wetted by solvent after you clean it up.

For the headlight screw, you might want to try the oil from behind, 
anyway, since that's likely where it is frozen up. A little heat from a 
hir dryer might help, too.
