Hi Asad, Great to hear from you. Just mentioned recently I missed hearing from you and your brother Suleman?
Did you try to turn the engine in the opposite direction? Could be a valve issue that caused it to lock up, assuming with the oil level the bearings are all still fine. Perhaps pull the valve covers off to see if anything looks wrong. If in doubt you could loosen the rocker arms to make sure all valves return to their fully closed position once it is loose enough so none of the valves are being pushed in by the rocker arms. I saw a good engine stop very suddenly on a friends 68 doublecab truck when a tin screw that had been dropped into the intake manifold in a previous repair (one he paid for... ), got wedged between a valve and it's seat, holding the valve open. Once the piston came up and stopped against the valve that was all it would move. The hot battery cable makes me wonder too as it sounds like the solenoid on the starter was engaged causing the starter motor to try to turn without you turning the key? What NQ says makes sense but also turning the engine backwards should dislodge anything stuck between there. Let us know how it works out. Hello Asad! Haven't heard from you in a very long time so I'm glad to see you're still with us! It is entirely possible that something has fallen into the flywheel gear teeth and wedged itself between the teeth and the bell-housing. I would just pull the engine and while it's out, fix that starter bushing in the transmission. Then to remedy your hard start issues with the increased resistance in the wiring causing the solenoid to not want to activate, go here and read up on this rather cheap fix: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=421220 Keep us posted!
