I finally got the rusted nuts off the heat exchangers so I have the offending head off. I resorted to a cold chisel and pounded them off. Only one was on so bad it split before turning.
Now, I need to decide how far to go with this. 1. buy an intake valve and keepers and replace just the bad one. 2. Buy a set for all valves in both heads and rebuild them myself. 3. Send heads to a machine shop for rebuild. 4. buy one or two heads. BTW: the tops of the pistons, and the combustion chambers for 1&2 (the side I took off) was quite black with some build-up along the head/cylinder mating. I was running a single carb with a bigger jet I had someone set up for the 1915 but I never dialed it in so may have been running rich.
