I have the head back and took a spring off another intake and an exhaust valve. Both have some wear in the grooves. They aren't as bad as the failed valve but neither will fit through their guides and there is a small amount of metal, circular 'shavings', more like the edges of the valve end were sheared off. The area between the grooves is tapered nearly to a point (a circular ridge around the valve) and not a flat surface as it should be. So, I'd say Strictly Foreign did not use very good valves. Not saying its their fault. I don't know where they sourced their parts. I will get a set of valves (both intake and exhaust, 40mm and 35.5mm from a reliable source. like chirco) Man those things aren't cheep. So. Is it true that I can replace valves by lapping them in and don't need any additional work. I can lap but that's the limit of my valve skills. I put a pic of one on my blog as well as a pic of a new valve with a keeper.
