Hello,
I don't know anything about IOS 8. But, I have to say, restarting voice over, 
it'll eventually ware out the home button. Fortunately, I don't have a phone 
yet, but I will, eventually,  and these things are not putting me off, but I 
agree, people need to be aware of it.
