Hi Kevin,

Are you saying that the cord runs across open floor? Or, is it running
along the floor by the wall? Also, is it a thick sort of cable, I.E., heavy
duty or light?

Put it this way, how would you manage to hoover round it with a non robotic
cleaner? Do you not run the risk of chewing it up or suctioning it anyway?

I think, to be honest it isn't really safe practice to have cords running
across floors. Could you not run it around the walls? If so, what we have
always done with electric cables that are routed around rooms, is to use those
little cable tacks that pin them to the skirting-boards (perhaps, otherwise
called "base-boards?"

The newest machines are equipped with anti tangle capability, so, for
example, they used to have trouble with fringed rugs, but can, it is claimed,
deal with them now. However, I have to say, I trimmed the fringes off my, not
very expensive rugs, apart from the very short, 2 inch or less, fringes.

If it is truly inconvenient to have the cord rerouted, perhaps, given
enough latitude, you could find a way of raising the cable off of the ground
just for the time of hoovering. However, there is an answer! with the Roomba,
all versions, or with the Neato BotVac Connected, you can cordon off areas that
you don't want the Bot to clean. In the case of the Roomba, there are battery
powered 'Virtual walls" which you position, they use infra-red sending out a
beam that the Roomba will not cross. The Neato Bot includes a sort of tape
which you put on the ground at the point where you want to isolate an area.
perhaps this might answer?

   Sandy.
