Well, I just tried it. I wrote some text. I selected the Emoji keyboard. I selected a word, I turned the rotor and there was no images option.
But, I made sure that both my iPod Touch and my iPhone had reduce motion turned off. I double tapped and held on the send button, flicked to Screen and double tapped, flick to the list of options and selected fireworks. I then flicked to “Send with fireworks” and double tapped. I sent this text from my iPod Touch to my Phone. When I opened the message, I got the description and the sound from the Fireworks image. So, for sound to work on either end, you need reduce motion off. But, the idea of replacing a word is at best inconsistent if it works at all. Ah thanks for this. Now I know what I was doing wrong. I didn't select the emogi keyboard. I assumed that the emogi would only appear in the rotor if emogis were available to replace words. Donna I have not tried this, but according to Anna’s message, quoted below, you have to first switch to the Emoji keyboard. There is a button just to the right of the “More numbers” button in the lower left corner that should allow you to switch to the Emoji keyboard. If that isn’t there, you need to go into Settings, General, Keyboard and add the Emoji keyboard. Here is what Anna wrote, which she credits to Jonathan Mosen’s book: After you type your message, switch to the Emoji keyboard. There's now a rotor item called Emojis; turn the rotor to that. When you flick down, you'll be told when you're on a word that can be replaced by an emoji. It will say whether there's one option or several. If there's one, double-tap to make the replacement. If there's more than one choice, flick left and right to move through them, and double-tap the one you want.
