At one time, buying a new iPhone at the Apple Store or through the major US carriers would automatically give you a year of Apple Care. I'm not sure if this is true anymore, but I learned of the added coverage when I had a small issue with my phone a few years ago. I took it to the Apple Store and one of their reps informed me of the year coverage. The US insurance company which offers insurance coverage for an added fee is called Asurian, or something like that. My wife dropped her phone last fall and had it replaced. Last week, she was shopping and reported to me later that the phone jumped out of the cart, and the screen cracked again. She will be contacting Asurian soon to get it replaced a second time. I think that we're going to invest in a strong screen protector for her phone given the frequency of these accidents. I think the Asurian coverage will cover up to 2 replacements per year but am not sure. I have not gotten any additional Apple Care, other than the one I had mentioned above, since I'm always very careful. I learned from a coworker that Tech Armour makes some ballistic strength glass screen protectors for about $10 on Amazon, which sound like agreat investment, especially if those little accidents happen.
