I'm not sure your math stating that your iPhone X insurance coverage is a 
fraction of the cost of Apple Care works out. Apple Care is purchased when the 
phone is new and gives two years of coverage from purchase date. If you 
multiply your $12 a month times 24 months, that works out to $288 in total 
which is considerably more than Apple Care. I don't know whether the coverage 
is comparable but you must make the math comparable.
