consider an insurance plan from your carrier. I am with Xfinity Mobile and I bought an iPhone Xs and have an insurance plan for $12 a month. It covers theft, loss, and accidental damage. It also includes an upgrade after one year. It is more coverage than Apple Care at a fraction of the price. Service is performed at an Apple store, just as if I had Apple Care.
