I think what's being asked for here is a restart option in IOS similar
to the restart option that you have in the power submenu of Windows 10.
I don't think people are asking for anything analogous to a physical
reset button. Therefore, I think the comparison to Windows is completely
appropriate.

method is perfectly fine and I am OK not having a "restart" option in the menu
somewhere.

Maybe I am not understanding what you consider a restart. It is similar to
doing a restart on a PC. Which model phone are you using? The method is
different beginning with the seven from all prior models. A re-set puts the
phone back into factory condition and erases all your settings and data. A
restart only shuts down and restarts the phone while flushing out some minor
issues which might be causing problems.

I'm not sure you can do a straight restart in iOS, at least I haven't
been able to find it yet. You can do a hard reset, which I think
restarts the phone. The process for doing this varies depending on the
model, so I will let others describe that part.
