I am totally blind, but I have had issues recently in turning my phone
back on. I know to hold the power button in for about 5 seconds on my
iPhone 8 Plus. I have done this several times on multiple occasions
and it does not start up. I used to be able to start it without
difficulty. Lately though, I have had to plug the charging cable in,
and after I do that, all works as it should and the phone powers on.
I'm not sure why this is and what the deal is, but it is not a big
deal. The result is that I do not turn my phone off as much as I used
to. Having to plug it in to turn it back on takes a few more seconds
but it is not a major inconvenience. I plan on upgrading to a X series
phone in the fall, and hopefully those will be smoother in the start
up process. One other thing; if you have plugged in the phone to
charge and it is off, when it is turning on, you do get a vibration
telling you the phone is plugged into power. This could be considered
as confirmation that things are working as they should, like on the
Samsung or older Nokia phones for those that recall those. Not a
perfect solution, but is what we have now.
