If your grandmother is newly blinded and has never used technology before, she may have a very difficult time in mastering what is for sure a complex piece of technology. Might I suggest something that might be, to her, much easier and more satisfying. There are several made for the blind special-purpose phones. I think the least expensive of these is the blindShell Classic which sells for around $350. I know this is expensive but it might be the best solution for her.
