I tend to let the operating system manage it's resources. I figure the operating system and Apple developers know more about how to optimize their hardware and software than I do. That being said, I definitely remove everything from the app switcher if I think there's an issue, or I'm restarting the phone or I'm installing an update. I also tend to go through the app switcher once a day or so and remove anything I don't think I'll be using again that day. The apps I use on a daily basis just stay in my app switcher.

I think the argument from those who vote not to close them out would say that it takes resources from the battery or processor to, as it were, go get that app and load it, and have it ready for use. This is especially true if it still says active in the asp switcher, it is ready to go right now, no extra resources needed to get it ready. Even if it doesn't say active, it is still right there, the processor and battery resources aren't needed to, as it were, go get it. Those of us who close them out if they aren't needed right away say it takes us space from somewhere to store these apps in a ready to go state and after a while, it is harder on the processor or whatever and it gets crowded in there. As with so many questions in life, the answer depends on who you ask. Sometimes, I'll be doing several things, so wait until I am through, and it can be three or four apps, but I close them out pretty quick. That was the first real thing I was ever taught about what to do or not do with my iPhone. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Evan Reese Sent: Friday, November 1, 2024 3:00 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: iPhone charging question I have a thing about that. I always close apps with the app switcher when I'm not using them.
