I use the Optimized Charging feature. So it charges the battery up to 80
percent, then it waits until a couple hours before I usually unplug it
when I get up to charge it to 100 percent.
My phone tells me that charging the battery this way makes it last
longer, so I let it charge the battery the way it wants.

It is best to charge it when it is down to 30% or 20%, most advice is not to
let it go way down to 8% or even 1% and also to not necessarily charge all the
way to 100% although if you have a long day ahead where you want the most
battery then that of course is OK. I honestly don't worry about it that miuch,
I typically keep my iPhones 2-3 years and even if I were to keep it for longer
and I found my battery capacitiy was not good enough any more, I'd simply pay
whatever it costs to have a new battery put in.
